Steve Roden played with ad-hoc workshop bands in Chelmsford, Essex in the late seventies/early eighties, before joining Manchester based r'nb band "Previous Good Character" as bass guitarist. Years later, returning to Birmingham he began writing prolifically and (on acquiring a 4 track recorder), recorded numerous multi-tracked songs, on which he layered each instrument. During this time he also sang and played electric guitar with the "Twitching Bottle Blues Band".
In the mid-90's Steve collaborated with friend and vocalist Yvonne Flannery for a CD, titled "Ordinary People", to which they both contributed songs. At the end of the nineties, Steve joined Rob in the acoustic roots band 'Atlantic River'. This band gigged around Birmingham and recorded two CD's featuring a mix of covers and original songs. In 2002, feeling limited by the format of the band, Steve left 'Atlantic River' to continue writing and recording at home, until he rejoined with Rob in 2001, to form the band 'Stage'. Lomax is the latest in this long line of projects.
