Rob started playing guitar when aged nine, under the guidance of an elder brother, joining his first band 'Clogs' at the age of fifteen, playing some 'notable' school gigs. One riotous affair resulted from Trev's rendition of 'Great Balls of Fire' (Lewis) followed by the ever popular 'Schools Out' (Cooper).
By the age of eighteen, Rob was playing regular gigs in the pubs of Birmingham, using a Gibson 'SG' and a Hofner 'Galaxy' electric guitar (loaned from brother Colin) in the band 'Foreverchanges' (remember the Album by Arthur Lee and his band 'Love'?). Foreverchanges were later to evolve into the country/blues band 'Freefall'. Again the pub and club circuit beckoned.
In 1979, Rob joined the band 'Osprey' the members of which wrote and recorded a demo. tape of original material including the promising songs 'Home Grown' and 'Four Thirty'. Years passed and then came the inner city band called 'The Great Outdoors', playing original songs with a 'Byrds' feel.
Rob joined 'Atlantic River' in around 1995 and spent several years playing gigs in and around the midlands (including Ronnie Scotts, Broad Street in 1996 as part of the songwriters festival). A CD was recorded and mixed at Rich Bitch Studios in Bournville to which Rob contributed the songs 'Wild Soul' and 'When'. Since the break up of Atlantic River Rob has continued to write in collaboration with Steve.
'Lomax' is the latest in that series of collaborations.
